It's the week before E3, so time for companies showing off, rumor mongering and rumor confirmation. It promises to be a busy day here in the newsroom at TechRaptor across the world, and this story has to do with the upcoming Guerilla Games title Horizon Zero Dawn. Debuting at E3 last year, Horizon Zero Dawn's gorgeous visuals with the cybernetic dinosaurs and a fascinating world to explore caught all kinds of attention and was planned to have a release in 2016.
Well, until today that is. While rumors have gone around about a pushed back release date, today is the first time Guerilla Games has said anything on the game in a while. They announced a delay with a new date, and the game will now debut on February 28, 2017. This is giving them extra time to work on things and Guerilla Games' Hermen Hulst said:
"However, we also want to ensure that Horizon Zero Dawn lives up to the visuals and gameplay quality that our games are known for. The new date affords us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon Zero Dawn."To help soften the blow, Horizon Zero Dawn got a new trailer today, titled Aloy Journey that is being shown off before the game's inevitable E3 blowout. This trailer focuses some on world building and other characters in the world beyond Aloy and what is going on around her some in the tribal societies in the world she inhabits.

Quick Take
I don't think anyone is surprised by this delay. It makes sense as Horizon Zero Dawn looks like a very ambitious title. It is possible that it's going to be one of the title's pushing the rumored PlayStation Neo's hardware and taking advantage of that upgrade as well as showcasing it to the public and other developers. Guerilla Games is a first party developer so they do sometimes face challenges like that which other companies may not. We'll be finding out more next week, and it promises to be interesting! What are your thoughts on this delay? Are you interested in Horizon Zero Dawn? Do you want to battle a cybernetic dinosaur?
