Hood: Outlaws and Legends is a new take on the classic tale of Robin Hood with first and third-person action gameplay. Developed by Sumo Digital and published by Focus Interactive, this multiplayer heist game is set to release on the PlayStation 5 sometime next year.
The tale of Robin Hood is a story that many of us know. An outlaw and his band of men steal from a corrupt nobility and give back to the people said nobility claim to protect. In Hood: Outlaws and Legends, a powerful authority known as The State is trying to bring order to chaos, but they do this at great cost to peoples' personal liberty and come to be seen as just as bad as the militia who fight against them. Players will assemble their own teams of Outlaws as they compete with other players to deal with AI-controlled guards, steal a treasure chest from a State stronghold and win influence with an oppressed people.
On the PlayStation Blog, Game Director Andrew Willans from Sumo Digital explains a bit more about the world of Hood: Outlaws and Legends and how the game works. This version of Medieval Britain is a dark and gritty reimagining of the classic legend in a world heavily based on old world folklore and myth with elements of grounded fantasy, such as small bits of magic. As for the gameplay, two 4-teams of Outlaws, each with their own skills and proficiencies, will compete with each other as they perform a heist on the same location in what Andrew describes as a 'PvPvE' game. Players will have to work together to infiltrate, locate, and make off with the treasure while dealing with AI guards and the opposing team.
Take part in the classic story once again when Hood: Outlaws and Legends releases in 2021 for the PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
