Hoyoverse has revealed the Honkai: Star Rail release date, and there's a surprise for Sony fans as well. The Genshin Impact studio's new spacefaring RPG is due to arrive on PC and mobile devices on April 26th, and PlayStation versions are also in development, although we don't know when those are coming just yet.
This news was revealed via Hoyoverse's "Boarding Preparation Special Program" presentation, which it held earlier today. Honkai: Star Rail managed to rack up 3.5 million pre-registrations in just 9 days, and the count currently stands at over 7 million, so it's clear people are pretty excited to get their hands on this one. Happily, given the release date is just over a month away, you won't have much longer to wait.
The presentation also revealed more about the gameplay of Honkai: Star Rail, which will take a turn-based approach, in contrast to Genshin Impact's action RPG stylings. Just like Genshin, however, lots of characters will be available, each of whom has their own strengths and weaknesses. You'll need to be aware of those strengths and weaknesses as you engage in combat across Honkai: Star Rail's fantasy-inflected sci-fi universe.
The number of pre-registrations for Honkai: Star Rail means that players have already unlocked bonuses before the game is even out. Here's everything that Hoyoverse has been promising leading up to the game's launch date.
- 500,000 pre-registrations: 50,000 Credit
- 1,000,000 pre-registrations: 3 Star Rail Passes
- 2,000,000 pre-registrations: Avatar Trailblazer - Welcome x1
- 3,500,000 pre-registrations: 4-star Serval character
- 5,000,000 pre-registrations: 15 Star Rail Passes
If you're a fan of Genshin Impact but you want something a little more slow-paced and cerebral to play, it looks like Honkai: Star Rail will be right up your alley. The game will launch for PC via Windows and the Epic Games Store, as well as the iOS App Store and Google Play Store, on April 26th, with pre-installation beginning on April 23rd.
