Honkai Impact 3rd is getting a crossover with legendary anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, developer miHoYo has announced. It'll debut for the game on January 21st this year on mobile platforms and PC.
What do we know about the Honkai Impact 3rd Evangelion crossover?
The Honkai Impact 3rd crossover with Neon Genesis Evangelion pits the Valkyries of Honkai against the Angels of Evangelion. Developer miHoYo describes the content of the upcoming crossover as an "epic showdown", with CEO Liu Wei saying the two properties are spiritually akin to one another. According to Wei, "both Valkyries and NERV are ordained to fight for the world", so the two properties are a good match. It's not clear exactly how Honkai Impact 3rd's gameplay will change as a result of the Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover. All we know is that the main characters of the game will be facing off against Evangelion's Angels as the Third Impact attack the Honkai Impact 3rd world. You'll have to wait and see how the crossover plays out when it launches on January 21st for Android, iOS, and PC. There will be full cross-play support, too, so you can enjoy the crossover with your buddies.
What is Honkai Impact 3rd?
Honkai Impact 3rd is the fourth game by Chinese developer miHoYo, now better-known in the West for free-to-play action RPG Genshin Impact. Much like Genshin, Honkai uses gacha mechanics to reward players with new Valkyrie characters, but it's a much more action-oriented game than Genshin is, featuring gameplay more akin to games like Bayonetta or Astral Chain. There are also minigames to enjoy, ranging from bullet hell shooting to platforming. Honkai Impact 3rd also regularly gets seasonal content updates that bring unique gameplay with them.
