Following the news that the release of HITMAN will be delayed several months to ensure that more content will be available for launch, IO Interactive announced the details for the staggered content release of the upcoming HITMAN. The full game will not be released at one time; instead, IO Interactive claims that “HITMAN will be a live game experience that delivers content over time, supported by live events.”
HITMAN is scheduled to release on March 11th, 2016. This initial release will include six campaign missions across three locations: Paris, Sapienza, and Marrakesh. Contracts mode will also be a part of the March release, containing “a combined pool of around 800 targets.”
The following months will see additional content releases, with one new sandbox map becoming available each month for three months. Thailand will be available in April, the United States in May, and Japan in June. Each sandbox map will also come with new weapons, disguises, signature kills, Contracts targets, and missions. Additional, time-sensitive content is also planned:
“In addition, the live content will start in March. This consists of ours live, time-limited targets, weekly IOI developed Contracts and promoted content built by the very best of you out there. Because, let’s face it, millions of you played and created fantastic Contracts for Absolution and we’re betting you’ll do even better this time around with so many targets and such complex locations”
IO Interactive plans to offer two options for purchasing HITMAN. To get full access to all of the planned releases, the Full Experience is available for USD $59.99. Pre-ordering the Full Experience will also guarantee access to the HITMAN Beta test. It is unclear if Beta access will be available through other means. Note that the beta will only be on PC and Playstation 4.
Sometime in November 2015, the Intro Pack will be made available for USD $34.99. The Intro Pack will only include the content that comes as a part of the initial release. The Live Events and Contracts that are released in March 2016 will also be a part of the Intro Pack. To gain access to the content that will be released in the following months, an upgrade will be available after HITMAN releases for USD $29.99.
