We now have a new Hitman 3: Freelancer release date: January 26th, 2023. This is the second time the mode has been delayed, with the first being back in May. According to IO Interactive, this delay is down to the studio wanting to include "almost all locations from the World of Assassination from day one", necessitating some extra work. That's a lot of places in which to get your murder on, so hopefully, this will help make the delay from the second half of 2022 to January 2023 much more palatable.
As for what exactly the new Hitman 3: Freelancer mode is, it's a new single-player mode that will introduce rogue-like elements to the game, along with a customizable safehouse and "strategic planning". Given that the Hitman series has always encouraged strategic planning both before and during its missions, it'll be interesting to see how IO Interactive plans to change up this aspect for Freelancer.
If you're playing Hitman 3 on Steam, you might be able to take part in the upcoming Freelancer Closed Technical Test that will allow you to "try the core elements of the mode", which sounds fairly exciting. Some things will be kept under wraps, so even if you do make it in you won't know everything there is to know about the new game mode.
If you want to know what to expect between now and the release of the Hitman 3: Freelancer release date, there isn't too much. A new patch and the October roadmap will release on October 6th. October 27th will have the second Road to Freelancer blog, and November will have the third blog and the aforementioned Closed Technical Test. December will try to get you hyped up with more Road to Freelancer blogs, with January 26th being the game mode's release date.
Overall, it doesn't sound like there will be much substantial content (there's only one patch between now and January) but you'll at least stay informed on Hitman 3 developments going forward. The October roadmap will also be released on Thursday, so you'll know what to expect for this month very soon.
