Popular mobile game Crossy Road developer Hipster Whale has announced that they will begin publishing games in addition to making them. Former Atari QA manager and producer at Krome Studios Melbourne, Clara Reeves has recently been appointed as president of the company as they branch into the publishing business. Following the success of partnerships with Disney and Bandai Namco, Hipster Whale says publishing is the “natural next step” for their company.

"Hipster Whale are looking for creative developers with high-quality projects that have the potential to put a twist on the conventional approaches to the market," commented a studio representative. Currently, the company has made three mobile games, Crossy Road, Pac-Man 256 and Shooty Skies. Earlier in the year, the developers now publishers helped out Dream Team with their mobile title Boxy Kingdom.

Director and co-founder of the Australian game studio Andy Sum said, "We're often approached by other developers asking for help with their titles, and we haven't had the bandwidth to act. Now, with our publishing initiative, we have a platform for showcasing some truly great games."

New President Clara Reeves will be leading Hipster Whale into their new publishing business. She brings a lot of industry experience to the table having worked for companies like Atari, Krome Studios and Film Victoria (as manager of games). Games like Disney Crossy Road will continue getting Hipster Whale’s support and attention as they help bring new games from other developers to market.

"Hipster Whale will continue to work on internal IP and with our amazing partners like Bandai Namco and Disney. We'll now also now be looking to partner with great developers, helping them bring their creations to the widest audiences and find their own successes. That's really exciting to all of us," said Reeves. "Across the whole business we'll be working hard on creating and curating the very best game experiences, always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our players."
