Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord has been out for a while now, and some fans are disappointed to see the best Bannerlord equipment restricted to multiplayer. That doesn't have to be the case, though — a Redditor has discovered how to unlock it all for your single-player game.

While the Mount & Blade franchise is largely known for its epic single-player sandbox experience, the multiplayer component has also had its own dedicated following. The highly-anticipated release of the sequel has brought with it some exclusive pieces of equipment for multiplayer. This exclusivity has annoyed some fans, leading to one investigating if it were possible to bring it over to the game's singleplayer mode.

How to Unlock All Bannerlord equipment in Singleplayer

The method for unlocking this equipment was discovered by /u/-CassaNova- on Reddit. Here's what you have to do:

  1. Navigate to Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\SandBoxCore\ModuleData
  2. Locate spitems.xml and make a copy of the file to save as a backup.
  3. Open up the original spitems.xml. If you don't have an XML editor, you can use Notepad by right-clicking on it and selecting "Open With" and subsequently selecting Notepad.
  4. Delete all instances of "multiplayer_item="true" that you find within spitems.xml. You can do this easier via the replace function: press Ctrl+H, put "multiplayer_item="true" in the find field, and leave the "Replace With" field blank.

Once you've completed this operation, you should be able to find absolutely all of the multiplayer Bannerlord equipment in the singleplayer stores.

It should be noted that Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is currently in Steam Early Access. If this behavior is not intended by the developers, they may very well patch it out. Of course, the Mount & Blade community is well-known for making some seriously cool mods, so you can expect them to eventually put it right back in.

What do you think of so much Bannerlord equipment being locked to multiplayer? Do you think all equipment should be made available in the singleplayer game by default? Let us know in the comments below!
