The single player first person shooter has been revitalized a little bit thanks to some good dedicated titles like Wolfenstein: The New Order over the last several years, but one that seems to be always overlooked is Shadow Warrior. If you haven't played the game yet, now is a good time as any with the game being 90% off at GOG. With a focus on some melee combat and some interesting weaponry to use, as well as different abilities to use against the demons of the underworld, you played as the hero Wang against the forces of evil, with only the humor that Wang could bring to a situation as dire as the Shadow Warrior world. Well those fans of the series will be glad to know that a sequel has been announced by the publisher Devolver Digital, as seen on the Shadow Warrior official twitter.
If you head over to the main Shadow Warrior site, a well designed #2 in the shape of a golden dragon will be there to greet you (and looks really fantastic in fact). They've also released a nice little teaser of the game on the site as well, with the titular character Wang with his iconic samurai swords, sweet looking shades, and a nice little grin on his face. In addition to an old man about to seemingly have his head explode, most likely due to some demon infestation. While the details are limited at this time, more information will most likely be revealed at the upcoming E3, where we will get to learn what kind of trouble Wang has gotten himself into. Last year, Flying Wild Hog studios ported the original game to the Xbox One and PS4, and it's good to see that we're getting a proper sequel to a great FPS game.
Are you excited about another title in the Shadow Warrior franchise? Is the industry coming around to the single player FPS with titles like this and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood? And more importantly, how many Wang jokes do you think the game will pack in this time around? My guess is about 77.
