The last games of the 2018 Overwatch World Cup qualifying matches have wrapped up and the Round of 8 teams have been decided according to a news post on the Overwatch League's website.
The Overwatch World Cup is a competition where the strongest players from a number of nations have the option to step up and represent their teams in an international battle to see which country is the best at Blizzard Entertainments first-person shooter. Qualifying matches have taken place in four locations around the world, most recently wrapping up in Paris, France. With the conclusion of these games, eight teams have been selected to fly to Anaheim, California and have a showdown throughout Blizzcon.
Teams have been divided into first-place teams and second-place teams based on their performance in the qualifying matches. First-place teams from each of the four groups were randomly matched up against second-place teams from a group outside of their home region resulting in the matchups that you see above. These teams will battle it out at Blizzcon, and the winners of these matches will have a final showdown on the following day to see which country is the best at taking objectives and tactically crouching. No matter who comes out on top, there's sure to be some interesting fights!
