Cradle Games and TinyBuild has announced the launch date for its upcoming Hellpoint next-gen upgrade. The horror-inflected sci-fi Soulslike is hitting next-gen consoles this July, which is also the release date for the long-awaited Hellpoint: Blue Sun DLC expansion.
What is the Hellpoint next-gen upgrade release date?
Hellpoint originally launched for PC and last-gen consoles back in mid-2020. Shortly thereafter, a Hellpoint next-gen upgrade was announced, but the game has been mysteriously silent on this point since then. Now, however, we know when we're getting the next-gen upgrade. You'll be able to play Hellpoint on your PS5 or Xbox Series X|S on July 12th, and naturally, this version will come with a whole host of graphical and performance upgrades and improvements as well.

If you're playing the Hellpoint PS5 or Xbox Series X|S versions, you can expect 4k resolution, as well as a 60fps framerate. Both consoles will also drastically decrease loading times, allowing you to quickly hop back into the action after one of the hundreds of times you'll inevitably die (this is a Soulslike, after all). Intriguingly, Cradle doesn't draw any distinctions between the Xbox Series X and Series S; it sounds like both consoles will be able to run Hellpoint at 4k60, which is pretty impressive if so.
What is the Hellpoint: Blue Sun DLC about?
As well as the upcoming Hellpoint next-gen upgrade, Cradle and TinyBuild also announced the release of the long-awaited Hellpoint: Blue Sun DLC, which was originally announced in August last year. The DLC will take you into the depths of Irid Novo, where you'll see the horrors the cosmic gods of Hellpoint have wrought. Blue Sun will add three brand new locations, as well as new gear to collect. The DLC also adds the ability to respec your character and manage your inventory, both of which are highly-requested features for Hellpoint.

Hellpoint: Blue Sun will be released alongside the next-gen upgrade for the game on July 12th. You can wishlist the DLC on Steam right now if you want to. The base game is also available on Steam, as well as on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If you're into other sci-fi Soulslikes in the vein of The Surge 2 or the upcoming Dolmen, then Hellpoint should definitely be on your radar. We'll bring you more on this game as soon as we get it, as usual.
