Publisher Portkey Games and developer Niantic, Inc. have announced a release date for the new mobile-based augmented reality game set in the universe of Harry Potter. If you're a fan of both Pokemon Go and Harry Potter, you'll be very happy to know that Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will release this Friday, June 21, for Android and iOS. After a couple of months in beta, the game looks ready to ship, and it should prove enormously successful, uniting fans of two majorly popular franchises, as fans of Pokemon Go might enjoy a new take on Niantic's brand of augmented reality, and fans of Harry Potter will definitely enjoy exploring a Harry Potter story through an AR game.

As you would expect, the premise of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is that traces of magic are appearing across the Muggle world, without warning, and in a rather chaotic way. Wizards are worried that it's only a matter of time before even the most ordinary Muggles catch up to what is going on. And so they're calling on witches and wizards to help contain this Calamity, or risk the worst of times. As a budding wizard or witch, you must brush up on your spells, get your wand ready, and enlist to help the cause.

You will join other witches and wizards following the Ministry's orders and roll up your sleeves to save the wizarding world from the Calamity. You will become a member of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, a new task force, formed in partnership between the Ministry of Magic and the International Confederation of Wizards. You will hone your wand reflexes until they are lightning-fast, and practice your ability to sniff out the faintest whiff of magical disorder in the Muggle world.

Unlike Pokemon Go, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite includes a narrative, which makes sense given it's Harry Potter. You can find more information about the game on the official website.
