Following the recent string of natural disasters that all but decimated everything from the Gulf Coast to Puerto Rico, it is only natural that people want to know how to help those in need. Thanks to Microsoft and 343 Industries, Halo 5 fans will have an additional way to donate to relief efforts via the new Relief and Recovery REQ pack, which will give you five permanent REQ items "selected from the most popular visual customization REQs of ultra-rare or better rarity, if available", in addition to 10 rare-quality or higher boost cards. The new REQ pack will be available from the in-game store and the Xbox Live store from October 12 to October 23 for the price of $10.
The proceeds from the new Halo 5 REQ packs will go to GlobalGiving, a global crowdfunding organization that helps nonprofits and donors in every country connect with each other in addition to helping them gain access to the tools, training, and support that they need to carry out their jobs in an effective manner. In addition, funds from this organization go to vetted local organizations in the event of a disaster. GlobalGiving itself has existed since 2012, raising more than $290 million to help fund almost 18,000 projects in 170 countries since then. GlobalGiving also works with vetted corporations to help fund people that have ideas and projects to improve their communities.
Of course, there are other ways that you can donate to help hurricane victims, but at least this presents a rather easy method to do so, especially considering how it takes less than a minute to buy things from the Xbox Live store. Plus you do get something out of it if you play Halo 5, so that's a nice little incentive even if you don't typically pay much attention to the game's REQ packs.
