A still from the release trailer for Half-Life 2 Overcharged.

A major overhaul mod for Half-Life 2 and the Episodes is nearing release. Half-Life 2 Overcharged is bringing a huge amount of overhauls and customization when it releases on Mod DB sometime the February.

Designed by a Russian team, Half-Life 2 Overcharged is a major non-canonical overhaul mod that adds "over 300 gameplay options" to all three of the Half-Life 2 games. One of the main features touted in the trailer is a complete work to gunplay, with over 50 guns to use mixing together old remastered weapons to brand new ones. Players also have access to a slow-motion feature with a variety of settings to fine-tune it to their liking. With the addition of new Combine enemies as well as cut enemies that are recreated and reintroduced into the game, players will have plenty of targets to use their weapons on.

Guns and enemies aren't the only things to get reworked, however. Half-Life 2 Overcharged will offer extended versions of old maps as well as new, uncut locations. These locations will make the best use of the game's lighting with the help of global projected lighting shadows. Guns will feature dynamic flashlight effects and even get covered in slime. The game's soundtrack will also make use of the "best soundtrack remixes" for the game. The description for the trailer and the official Mod DB page doesn't have much-written information on the game, with the last article on Mod DB being from the end of 2019, but comments on the trailer seem very excited for the final product.

The first release for Half-Life 2 Overcharged will be on Mod DB sometime this February, with a Steam page going live sometime after that.
