A new Guilty Gear Strive mod has been revealed, and this one is pretty interesting -- it adds in fighters from Dragon Ball FighterZ into the game.
Guilty Gear Strive is the latest game in the long-running Guilty Gear franchise. By all accounts, it's pretty damn good -- and the addition of rollback netcode certainly contributes to that reputation. Now, a new mod is making this game even more interesting by adding in characters from Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Dragon Ball FighterZ + Guilty Gear Strive Mod Looks Awesome
As highlighted on Reddit, a Guilty Gear Strive mod has apparently added Goku from Dragon Ball FighterZ into the game, although it's clearly an early implementation as you can see in the above video.
That video is a mashup from two Twitter clips (first, second) from WistfulHopes, a modder who has already done a fair amount of work on Guilty Gear Strive mods. Most of the mods to date add character variants or change mechanics, but this apparent new project seems to take things a step further.
As many fighting game fans will tell you, the inclusion of rollback netcode in Guilty Gear Strive is a pretty big boon for the game. Dragon Ball FighterZ, however, did not have that feature on launch and still does not to this day. At the minimum, this mod could allow you to have your favorite DBFZ fights with better online play.
And, of course, there's also the fun fights that my inner 12-year-old could cook up. Could Goku beat Ky Kiske? Who would win in a Sol Badguy vs. Vegeta mashup? The blending of these two games could certainly make for some interesting fun.
Unfortunately, you can't quite get this mod just yet -- a glance at WistfulHopes' GameBanana page does not show this mod as available. That said, WistfulHopes has already proven the ability to add new characters, such as with the Sin Kiske mod. That means that it is definitely possible for the entire Dragon Ball FighterZ roster to be added to this Guilty Gear Strive mod at some point in the future.
