A number of Guilty Gear Strive DLC characters have been reportedly uncovered by dataminers examining dialogue files  — including fan favorites Slayer and Baiken.

Guilty Gear Strive is the latest game in the long-running Guilty Gear franchise of fighting games. The game has been out for nearly two months and it's already revealed its first DLC character — but dataminers might have uncovered some more that are coming in the future.

Who Are the Datamined Guilty Gear Strive DLC Characters?

Dataminer @Lean_Buscaglia_ reports that he's explored the voice line files of the game and discovered some strong hints for the next Guilty Gear Strive DLC characters; this search was replicated by /u/LeandroMB56 on Reddit.

The files show text versions of several voice lines. There are characters in the game who appear and aren't playable, of course, but some of the voice lines shown in his tweet look like they may be related to combat — and that means that these characters could be playable.

Here are the datamined Guilty Gear Strive DLC characters according to what these people found:

  • Slayer
  • Baiken
  • Jack-O' Valentine
  • Happy Chaos

Notably, all four of these potential Guilty Gear Strive DLC characters appear in the game in some fashion. Slayer is briefly seen in the epilogue with his wife Sharon, Baiken appears in the epilogue smiling at Anji Mito, and Jack-O' Valentine is seen working with Sol Badguy as a bounty hunter. Happy Chaos, on the other hand, features heavily in the game's story.

@Lean_Buscaglia_ also notes in a follow-up tweet that he datamined Baiken making an appearance in the newest Samurai Shodown game. Baiken has not appeared in Samurai Shodown yet, though, so he theorizes that she might be revealed for both games at the same time.

That said, the contents of these files are not necessarily a guarantee that these Guilty Gear Strive DLC characters will appear in future updates; after all, game developers leave cut content in games all the time. Gematsu reports that DLC character #2 will arrive in August 2021 and the third, fourth, and fifth characters will make their debut in Fall 2021; hopefully, we'll find out more in the coming months. You can buy Guilty Gear Strive for PC and consoles via its official website starting at $59.99 or your regional equivalent.
