GTA Trilogy Physical Edition Reportedly Has No Map or Manual

It appears that the GTA Trilogy physical edition may have gotten in the hands of at least one gamer -- and it looks like the box might not include a physical map or manual at all.

Rockstar Games' launch of the GTA Trilogy continues to be troubled. The game was originally pulled shortly after release due to the inclusion of developer content and unlisted music; it was later restored to digital storefronts and Rockstar apologized for the whole situation.

These problems were just for the digital version of the game; the physical editions aren't officially out until December 17, 2021. However, it looks like someone might have gotten their hands on an early copy -- and the box looks a little empty.

The GTA Trilogy Physical Edition May Be a Disappointment

As you can see in the above tweet (quoted by @GTAonlineNews), a man named Matheus Victor appears to have gotten his hands on a physical copy of the PS4 GTA Trilogy physical edition. In the video, he removes the shrinkwrap and opens the box to find that there is only a disc inside and nothing else -- there are no physical maps or manuals included.

Rockstar Games' flagship releases are well-known for including physical goodies. While the inclusion of physical manuals has been declining in general, physical bonuses such as maps continue to be a choice for bonus physical content among game developers.

This may seem disappointing, but there could be more to this video at first glance -- there are several possible explanations for the lack of a physical map and/or manual. The worst possibility is, of course, that Rockstar Games is not including a physical map or manual with the GTA Trilogy physical edition. It's also possible that these physical extras are not being shipped to certain regions. There may also be a chance that the copy of the game shown in the video above was a misprint or mispack.

There are two other possibilities here. The first is that this video is faked; it wouldn't take too much effort to print a fake game cover and disc label, shrink wrap it, and then open it up on camera. The final remaining possibility is that Rockstar does not intend to include these physical extras in boxed copies at all.

We've reached out to Rockstar Games to definitively discover whether or not the GTA Trilogy physical edition will include maps and/or a manual. You can look forward to the physical copies launching on Friday, December 17, 2021.
