GTA 5 PS5 release has been confirmed at the opening of the Sony E3 replacement show "The Future of Gaming."

After the conclusion of the countdown, a montage of quick video clips from the history of GTA 5 and GTA Online appeared on the screen. Longtime players surely enjoyed the throwback to some past online events, but the big reveal popped up right at the end: Grand Theft Auto 5 is coming to the PlayStation 5 and will be shinier then ever.

Check out the trailer for a great montage of past events from GTA 5:

Another thing noted during the announcement (and echoed on the PlayStation blog) is that a standalone version of GTA Online will be available to PS5 players for free for the first three months of its release.

That said, existing players are going to get a pretty cool bonus as noted in the trailer's description:

"And starting today, all PlayStation Plus members on PlayStation 4 will get Grand Theft Auto  $1,000,000 deposited within 72 hours into their in-game Maze Bank account each month they play [Grand Theft Auto Online] until the launch of [Grand Theft Auto Online] on PlayStation 5."

When is the GTA 5 PS5 Release Date?

The PS5 release of GTA 5 means that this game will now be on three console generations. If you're keen on playing it again (or have never played it before), when will you be able to get it?

You'll be able to play the GTA 5 PS5 release when it launches for Sony's next-gen console sometime in 2021. No price has been announced, but I'd wager it'll be a full-price release.

What do you think of Grand Theft Auto 5 coming to the PlayStation 5? Are you going to buy the game again or are you satisfied with your current experience? Let us know in the comments below!
