Graven is the newest game developed by Slipgate Ironworks and published by 3D Realms and 1C Entertainment. If you've enjoyed fantasy first-person shooters like Hexen in the days of yesteryear, or immersive sims, then Graven might just be for you.
In Graven, players will be taking on the role of a priest of the Orthogonal order who has been exiled for defending another person. You'll have to investigate four heretical sects in the land, exploring the land and battling terrifying enemies.

Your best tools against the game's 30+ devious creatures are your spellbook and your staff — two items that you have right from the beginning of the game. These two default weapons (and your character) will grow in power as you spend gold on upgrades and discover new powers.
Players can also acquire more weapons like a wrist-mounted crossbow as they progress in their adventure. You won't have to go it alone, though — you can play this game together with a friend.
This game has some serious Hexen and Heretic vibes and that's definitely intentional — a press release explicitly calls this a spiritual successor to Hexen 2. That's not to say there aren't improvements, though! Much of the environment in this game (with the exception of critical level geometry) can be destroyed by the player.
Don't Confuse Graven with... Graven
If you searched for Graven on Steam during the Realms Deep show, you may have been somewhat confused when Graven: The Purple Moon Prophecy popped up in your search, especially because it launched four years ago.
Graven: The Purple Moon Prophecy is not the new upcoming game from Slipgate Ironworks, 3D Realms, and 1C Entertainment. Rather, their new game is simply called Graven and is arriving in 2021.
Name confusion aside, it looks like Slipgate Ironworks is cooking up something really interesting here. You'll be able to play it for yourself when it launches in 2021; for now, you can add Graven to your wishlist on Steam. You'll also be able to get it on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.
