The Gran Turismo 7 February update has a release date, and if you're picking up a PS VR2 this week, you've got VR support for the racing sim to look forward to. If not, you're still getting five new cars, a chance to race against Sony and Polyphony's new Gran Turismo AI, and more.
On February 22nd, PlayStation VR2 is launching, and if you already own Gran Turismo 7, you'll get a free upgrade to the PS VR2 version. Naturally, you'll need a headset to take advantage of that upgrade, but if you do play GT7 in VR, you'll have an exclusive VR Showroom area to look forward to, as well as the chance to experience Polyphony's realistic racing sim in VR.
Outside of VR support, the Gran Turismo 7 February update is bringing five brand new cars. The Honda RA272 '65 is an iconic F1 car that brought Honda its first F1 victory, while the Italdesign Exeneo Vision Gran Turismo is a sleek, futuristic monster with an iconic design (and an extra off-road option). There's also the Citroën DS 21 Pallas ’70, which boasts a unique 50s post-war aesthetic, and the gorgeous Porsche 911 Carrera RS '73.
As well as the above, you're also getting a chance to race against the new Gran Turismo Sophy AI (if you're playing on PS5, that is). Sophy is a "revolutionary superhuman AI racing agent" that's designed to add higher stakes to your racing experience. This special mode will be available through the end of March and can be accessed on the game's World Map once you've hit Collector Level 6. If you're a PS4 owner, sadly, you're out of luck with this one.
If you're a fan of classic Gran Turismo games, you'll be pleased to know that Grand Valley is making a reappearance in this latest update too. The Highway 1 layout is a full-blown racing challenge, while the South layout is shorter but no less difficult. Make sure to check it out if you want a blast of Gran Turismo nostalgia.
