Willowbrooke Post, a game where you manage a post office in a small town filled with colorful characters, will be launching on Steam Early Access on March 14, 2019, according to a press release from publisher Excalibur Games.
What happens when you mash up Animal Crossing and Papers, Please in a blender? You get Willowbrooke Post, a game that's all about running your very own post office in the small town of Willowbrooke. Your parents have had to go on an unexpected trip and have charged you with the duty of running the post office in their absence. Check out the Release Date Announcement Trailer to get an idea of what the game's like:
I'm not sure if that owl is a stuffed animal or one of the employees. Who knows these days.
A few more details are available in a news post on the game's Steam Community page. So far, we know that the game will feature cooking, conversations with NPC, and (of course) shipping letters and packages. The Animal Crossing bits are where you'll interact with the characters in the strange little town as you get to know them.
As for the Papers, Please portion of the formula, it seems that you'll have to make sure that the mail meets certain requirements before you approve it to be sent out. (I doubt there will be any terrorist attacks or communist takeovers like in Papers, Please, but it wouldn't be the first time a cutesy game pulled a fast one on me.) We also see the player character send out an e-mail and apparently do a bit of shopping prior to cooking. It seems like you'll definitely have more to do than sitting behind a desk and stamp letters all day.
More details beyond the trailer will be shared in the coming weeks and months. After it's live, the game is estimated to be in Early Access for approximately a year. If you're keen on gettin' your mailman on, you'll be able to buy Willowbrooke Post on Steam Early Access on March 14, 2019. For now, you can go to its Steam Store page and add it to your Wishlist.
