One of the fondest memories of my youth was devouring new Goosebumps books, and now a brand-new nostalgia trip is premiering this summer. Goosebumps Dead of Night will be pitting players against the petrifying puppet Slappy and all sorts of other scary monsters.

Check out the Goosebumps Dead of Night Launch Trailer to see the new scares coming in this upcoming game:

This game has made a rather appropriate design choice by going for a first-person survival adventure experience. This ain't DOOM Eternal, so you can't expect to have a rocket launcher or chainsaw to fight off the creepy creatures in this game. Instead, you're going to have to rely on stealth and your wits to keep you alive.

After several defeats, Slappy the Dummy has escaped from the pages of the Goosebumps books. He's since unleashed a horde of odd and terrifying creatures that are all too happy to tear you to pieces and it will be up to you to survive the encounter.

It won't be as easy as walking past the bad guys, though. Slappy has devised a series of devious puzzles for players to overcome, so this won't exactly be a walk in the park.

That said, if you're an adult fan of the book franchise who's looking to enjoy a little nostalgia, you probably shouldn't expect it to be especially challenging. The game is rated E for Everyone, so odds are it's probably targeted towards the primary audience of the books — younger kids.

When is the Goosebumps Dead of Night Release Date?

Whether you'd like a light challenge as an old-school fan of the books or you're looking for something to scare the crap out of your kids, Goosebumps Dead of Night looks like it has a bunch of scares in store. When will you be able to get it?

Going by the game's Steam Store page, it looks like the Goosebumps Dead of Night release date is June 12, 2020. That said, most of the promotional material around the game says that it's going for a "Summer 2020" release date, so that could change in the future. For now, you can add this new Goosebumps game to your wishlist on Steam or check out its official website.
