Get ready to get hype -- the God of War PC release date has been revealed for Steam and you'll be able to enjoy the adventures of Kratos with stunning 4K graphics in just a few short months.
The God of War franchise has been around for quite a while now, but the series got a shot in the arm a few years ago with a release of a new title for the PS4 that was detailed in a feature-length documentary. This game proved incredibly popular and quickly became the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive, so it should come as no surprise that a sequel is arriving next year.
While we're waiting for the next step in Kratos' adventure, it seems that Sony is keen on expanding the game to new platforms -- you'll soon be able to play the 2018 God of War on PC. Check out the Announce Trailer (via @Wario64 on Twitter)!
The 2018 God of War game is set several years after Krato's victory against the Gods of Olympus. He now lives in a country watched over by the Norse gods with his son Atreus. Unsurprisingly, his peaceful life doesn't last terribly long and he soon finds himself on a new adventure -- although this time, he's bringing his son along for the ride.
Naturally, Sony isn't sleeping on the power of PCs; this port of the game will have support for some fancy graphical features including 4K, DLSS, and more. You'll also be able to play the game in the ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio in resolutions up to 4K.
Sony has been steadily expanding its presence on PC, starting with some of its largest and most popular recent games, even going so far as to acquire PC porting studio Nixxes to work on them. Horizon Zero Dawn launched on PC via Steam last year and Days Gone arrived a few months after that; we also have some Uncharted games to look forward to in the coming months. Soon, God of War will join this select list of titles.
When is the God of War PC Release Date on Steam?
The God of War PC release date is January 14, 2022. Sadly, it looks like Sony wasn't able to get this game out in time for the holidays.
For now, you can pre-purchase God of War on Steam or add it to your wishlist. You'll be able to dive into this great Sony Santa Monica game next year for just $49.99 or your regional equivalent.
