PlayStation 4 Slim Glacier White

Sony has officially announced a PlayStation 4 Slim featuring a white finish to compliment the cold winter months. Here's the announcement trailer showing off the console's new color, which seems to be the exact same kind of finish the original PlayStation 4 got back in 2014:

This marks the first time the new PlayStation 4 Slim, which replaces the slightly bulkier original PlayStation 4, gets a completely new color, giving consumers the option of buying the console in 'Jet Black' or 'Glacier White'.

If you've been looking to buy a PlayStation 4 Slim in Glacier White, you will be able to do so at the end of the month. The console with the new finish will hit European stores on January 24 with a 500GB hard drive for €299 or £259 if you live in the United Kingdom. Japanese consumers get an extra option when the Glacier White PlayStation 4 Slim hits stores in Japan on February 23; they'll be able to get a 500GB hard drive for 29,980Yen or a 1TB hard drive for 34,980Yen. There is no word yet regarding a North American release for the Glacier White PlayStation 4 Slim.

The PlayStation 4 Slim is a (mostly aesthetically) updated version of Sony's popular console, sporting a less sharp look with analog buttons instead of the touch sensitive ones you get on the original PlayStation 4. The updated version of the console also comes with a redesigned DualShock 4 controller, which now includes a light bar you can see from the front. The PlayStation 4 Slim doesn't feature an optical port, which the original console had.

Quick Take

The color of the console is such an inconsequential thing to me, but the new finish on the PS4 Slim does make it look slightly cooler than it did in Jet Black, provided you have an interior to match the color.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
