The Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut release date has been confirmed by SIE and Sucker Punch Productions, delivering the new Iki Island expansion and new Legends content to PS4 and PS5 next month.

Earlier this week, an ESRB rating for the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut was surprisingly uncovered. We didn't know much about the game at the time; now, new details have been revealed which explain what we'll be getting. What's New in the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut?

The Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut will include a new Iki Island expansion as reported on the PlayStation Blog,, giving players a new adventure to explore. Naturally, this new island will also feature new enemies for you to fight.

The Director's Cut also marks the debut of a native PS5 version of the game. The Ghost of Tsushima PS5 version will add haptic feedback and adaptive triggers support along with 3D audio, faster load times, an option to play in 4K, and a target of 60FPS.

Multiplayer fanatics won't be left out in the cold, mind — new Ghost of Tsushima: Legends content is debuting alongside this expansion, too. All players will receive a free update including photo mode updates and some new gameplay options.

When is the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut Release Date?

The Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut release date is August 20, 2021. The game will be debuting on PS4 and PS5; players will also be able to purchase a physical version of the game if they wish and existing owners will have an option to upgrade.

How Does the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut Upgrade Work?

The Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut upgrade is a little odd. Existing PS4 owners can upgrade to the PS4 Director's Cut for $19.99. Starting on August 20, PS4 players can upgrade to the PS5 Director's Cut for $29.99. If you've already purchased the PS4 Director's Cut upgrade, you'll have to pay an additional $9.99 to enjoy it on PS5 with all of the new DualSense features.

Ultimately, this means that it's going to cost you $19.99–$29.99 to upgrade to the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut depending on whether or not you want to play it on PS4 or PS5. New players will be able to purchase the game and the director's cut in one package starting at $59.99 or your regional equivalent for PS4 and $69.99 for the PS5. More details about this upgrade system and new content will be revealed as we get closer to the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut release date.
