Today, Wargroove developer Chucklefish announced the game's launch for PS4. PlayStation 4's blog has a thorough description of Wargroove's offerings, with a link provided in the above Tweet.

I personally reviewed Wargroove for the PC when it launched earlier this year, and gave it a very high rating. Wargroove is a tactical strategy title akin to Advance Wars and Fire Emblem. The game features a single, large storyline where players take the role of Mercia of the Cherrystone Kingdom. Players travel across a continent, waging war against rival armies while recruiting new and unique commanders along the way.

Commanders in Wargroove use special abilities called "grooves" to aid them in combat. Players also recruit singular units to command, which are weaker than commanders but are the bulk of your army. Units have strengths and weaknesses, so Wargroove is a game of careful maneuvering while playing to your army's strengths.

In addition to a comprehensive campaign, Wargroove also features many different game modes. For example, Puzzle Mode provides a challenging scenario with only a limited number of moves available to complete the map. Multiplayer is available for players to fight online battles with each other. Wargroove provides a robust amount of custom content, letting players create and share different maps or entire campaigns.

Wargroove launches next week for the PlayStation 4 on July 23rd, 2019 at the price of $19.99

Quick Take

Wargroove is one of the best games to come out this year. I consider that a bold statement too since we've seen the release of some seriously good titles. If you're still on the fence about getting Wargroove because it isn't your type of game or is too difficult, I would still ask you to consider purchasing the game. It's very accessible with many ways to tweak difficulty, and the unique content creation options offer a lot of interesting maps and campaigns to play.
