If you've been hoping for that Genshin Impact PS5 version to hit, then you may not need to hope much longer. Developer miHoYo has announced that Genshin Impact is on its way to PS5 soon with a host of visual and performance improvements.

How will the Genshin Impact PS5 version be different?

According to a press release, the new native version of Genshin Impact on PS5 will feature a wealth of upgrades over the PS4 version. These include better graphics, more stable and consistent performance, and higher resolution, among other things. You can also look forward to improved load times that make transitioning between the areas of Teyvat more seamless. To accompany the announcement, miHoYo released a highlights trailer for Genshin Impact on PS5 titled "May Your Journey Know No Bounds", which you can check out here.

Forrest Liu, president of miHoYo, says the PS5 version of Genshin Impact will allow the team to "incorporate more thoughts and ideas into the game, both now and in the future". He says the PS5 is an "ideal platform" to enhance the open world environments of Genshin Impact. It's easy to see why; Genshin Impact is a pretty gorgeous game, so it's exciting to see what miHoYo can do with the enhanced hardware of the PS5.

Unfortunately, we don't yet have a concrete release date or even a vague release window for Genshin Impact on PS5. In the original announcement post, miHoYo simply says to "stay tuned" and that the game will be coming to Sony's next-gen platform "soon". Hopefully, we won't have too much longer to wait before we can get our hands on the native PS5 version. Until then, you can still play the PS4 version of Genshin Impact on PS5 via backward compatibility. Naturally, the PS5 runs this version better than the PS4 does, so as a halfway house, it's not a bad compromise at all. Stay tuned for more info.

Dark Souls changed my life, and I'm here to spread the good news. I like pretty much all sorts of games, but I judge everything by its proximity to our Lord and saviour, Dark Souls.
