Hoyoverse has revealed the Genshin Impact 2.6 release date, as well as what we can expect from the update. It'll add a brand new character, as well as new story content, the long-awaited Chasm area, new banners, and plenty more.
What's coming in the Genshin Impact 2.6 update?
According to Hoyoverse (formerly known as Mihoyo), there's lots to look forward to in the upcoming Genshin Impact 2.6 update. First and foremost, you're getting a brand new 5-star Hydro sword user in the form of Kamisato Ayato, head of the Kamisato clan. There's also a brand new Archon Quest in the form of Requiem of the Echoing Depths, which will take you to the Chasm in order to investigate the machinations of the Abyss Order. We'll likely learn more about that quest as we draw closer to the release date. You can check out the full trailer for Genshin Impact 2.6, otherwise known as "Zephyr of the Violet Garden", right here.
The trailer also shows off a fun event where you can take photographs of certain areas in Genshin Impact in order to earn rewards. The Theater Mechanicus is making its return in update 2.6, too, promising a slew of buffs and bonuses for your team. In addition to this fun stuff, there's a new Vibro-Crystal Research system that lets you connect crystals around the Chasm in order to boost your stats. While we don't have any official Genshin Impact 2.6 banners yet, a Reddit post was created (and then quickly removed) displaying banners for new character Kamisato Ayato, as well as his sister Kamisato Ayata and the wandering bard Venti. These will all be five-star banners.
As well as these banners, Genshin Impact 2.6 is also adding a brand new five-star sword in the form of the Haran Geppaku Futsu, as well as two new artifact sets. There's also a rather adorable-looking new Floral Courtyard feature, which will allow you to arrange and decorate vases full of flowers. From the trailer, this system looks surprisingly in-depth, so if you're a fan of tinkering with floral arrangements, then you're going to love it. Along with the new Outside the Canvas, Inside the Lens photography event, it looks like Hoyoverse is going for a relaxing vibe with this latest update.
When is the Genshin Impact 2.6 release date?
You'll be able to take a look at all the new content coming to Genshin Impact 2.6 in just under two weeks. The Genshin Impact 2.6 release date is March 30th, so that's when you can check out the new story quest, get to grips with Kamisato Ayato, and discover all of the new events the game has in store for you. This puts the release date at around six weeks after the Genshin Impact 2.5 update, so we can likely expect another major content drop in another six weeks or so.

You can download and play Genshin Impact for free right now on PC, PlayStation consoles, and mobile devices. A version of the game is also available in a limited beta window for some GeForce Now users. The runaway success of Genshin Impact has apparently allowed Hoyoverse to start work on a brand new AAA game, too, so the Chinese developer is firing on all cylinders right now. We'll bring you more on Genshin Impact 2.6 as soon as we get it, but until then, mark your calendar for March 30th.
