The Genshin Impact 2.4 release date has been revealed. We can expect the update for Mihoyo's open-world gacha RPG to launch early next month, bringing with it a new area, new banners, and a brand new festival event with lots of special activities to check out.
What's coming in Genshin Impact 2.4?
This new update is rather poetically titled "Fleeting Colors in Flight", and as you might expect, there's lots of new content on the way. First up, we're getting two new characters in Genshin Impact 2.4. Originally revealed in November, exorcist Shenhe and arts fanatic Yu Jin will be joining the Genshin Impact roster in January. Shenhe is a five-star polearm-wielding Cryo user, while Yu Jin is a four-star Geo user who also wields a polearm. Both Shenhe and Yu Jin will be available in the first of the Genshin Impact 2.4 banners, with Zhongli and Ganyu coming in a later banner. Make sure to look out for these banners as they arrive!
As well as these new characters, the Lantern Rite festival is also due to take place in Liyue in Genshin Impact 2.4. This festival brings with it lots of opportunities for unique seasonal activities, including making fireworks, participating in the lantern riddle event, and visiting a host of vendors to check out their wares. You'll also get the chance to help Ningguang rebuild the Jade Chamber, which was destroyed during the quest to defeat the sea god Osial. You'll be using the Waverider to collect some of the missing items, but you'll need to tackle Treasure Hoarders in order to get the rest.
You'll also get the chance to explore a major new area in Enkanomiya, an underwater island that plays host to the ruins of an ancient civilization. While you're there, you'll uncover abandoned laboratories, disused shrines, and the remains of a vast city. You'll also get to battle new Bathysmal Vishaps, predators that hunt in packs and that will need careful application of tactics to defeat. The new Abyss Lector: Fathomless Flames enemy will also provide a challenge for seasoned travellers.
When is the Genshin Impact 2.4 release date?
All of this and more will become available to you early next month. The Genshin Impact 2.4 release date is January 5th. That's when you'll get to check out the new Shenhe and Yu Jin banners, and it's also when the Lantern Rite festival begins, Enkanomiya opens up, and more. Mark January 5th on your calendar if you're excited to check out all of this new Genshin Impact content.
You can download Genshin Impact for free right now on PC, PlayStation consoles, and mobile devices. A version of the game is also planned for Nintendo Switch, but we don't have a release date for that just yet. If you're excited for the latest from Mihoyo, you'll be happy to know that a major new AAA title is apparently in the works at the studio, although again, details are pretty light on that project right now.
