Gears 5 Operation 4 and 5 details have finally been revealed by the developers. While the newest Gears game has had a shaky start, the devs have signaled that they're well aware of the problem — and they've got a plan for moving forward.
"While we believed strongly in these decisions, it’s clear some didn’t land as well as we hoped," stated the post on the official Gears 5 website. "With new leadership in place, we had the perfect opportunity to take a good look at the state of Gears 5 with a specific focus on what’s working and what needs improving. Over the past few months, the team responded with new, bold ideas and a significant investment into content, gameplay, and features."
What Are the Gears 5 Operation 4 and 5 Changes?
One of the downsides of Gears 5 Operation 4 is that not every character will have a matching hero ability. This means that PVE players won't get to use these new characters right away in the Horde and Escape game modes, but it's not all bad news! In Operation 5, players will be able to select characters and abilities in pretty much any combination they'd like.
More maps will be coming in the next few months, but that's not all — here's what you can expect to see in Gears 5 Operation 4 and beyond:
Changes Coming to Gears 5 Operation 4

Changes Coming to Gears 5 Operation 5

Gears 5 Streams Will Detail New Content
As part of this effort to improve Gears 5, the developers will be hosting a series of livestreams to inform players about the new Gears 5 Operation 4 and 5 features in more detail. Here's when you'll be able to watch them:
- What’s Next in Gears 5 - Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 5:30 pm EDT
- New Ranked System - Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at 6:00 pm EDT
- New store including an earnable currency - Thursday, July 9, 2020, at 6:00 pm EDT
- PvE updates - Friday, July 10, 2020, at 6:00 pm EDT
The article doesn't specify where they'll be streaming, but I'd put my money on these streams simulcasting on the Gears of War YouTube channel and twitch.tv/gearsofwar.
These upcoming changes might fix a lot of the problems that players have been having with Gears 5. If you haven't yet gotten into the game, you can get it for just $29.99 on Steam, a 50% discount as part of the Steam Summer Sale 2020. Xbox One gamers can pick up a physical copy on Amazon even cheaper for $24.99 or they can buy it digitally at the Microsoft Store at its full price of $59.99.
