At Gearbox's PAX East 2019 press conference, the studio announced that all of Borderlands 2's DLC would come to Borderlands 2 VR. The DLC packs, which add hours of shooting and near-infinite possibilities of guns, will be free for owners of Borderlands 2 VR. Currently, only the base game and the four main classes are available. Presumably, when Gearbox mentions "all DLC," this would include additional characters, skins, Hammerlock Hunts and more. There's no release date yet for the free patch, but Gearbox is promising that the update will come sometime this summer.

A PSVR exclusive, the reimagining of the frenetic shooter in VR does come with a few changes to ease up on the difficulty. New to Borderlands 2 VR is the inclusion of a "slo-mo" ability, where you can slow down time and glide across the battlefields. You can also "teleport" in VR, or move under your own power. Aside from some other menuing changes, Borderlands 2 VR is played with two PS Move controllers. The right is relegated to holding guns and aiming, while the left moves and melees. Unfortunately, Borderlands 2 VR is relegated to just single-player play, meaning the best aspect of the series is unfortunately unavailable.

If Borderlands 2 in VR sounds like an odd project to you, you're not alone. Reviews on the experiment ranged wildly, ranging from criticisms of the awkward menuing to the fact that it didn't offer anything substantially new. Still, with the addition of all of the DLC, some of the best missions in the Borderlands series will be playable on PSVR. It clearly sold well enough to warrant the gift of DLC, and Gearbox opened up their PAX East press conference talking about continued patch and peripheral support for Borderlands 2 VR. With no other new Borderlands VR projects announced at PAX East, we'll have to wait until this summer to get some new life for Borderlands 2 VR.
