With June coming to a close, the consoles are revealing their next month's offerings for their subscription services. While PlayStation's offerings included David Cage's Heavy Rain and Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma, Microsoft has opted to stay out of the narrative field instead with their four July Games with Gold titles focusing on things that games are well known for: shooting, puzzles, fighting, and sneaking about mixing in all of the above in different ways.

Xbox One owners will open up with indie title Assault Android Cactus available July 1 to July 31 to get their twin-stick action going. Jumping into this game you'll find a highly stylized and cool action shooter with a sense of humor and neat characters with plenty of unlockables as you play through the fast-paced action. This one even offers you the opportunity to have a friend join in for some local multiplayer fun, just like the good old 16-bit days where a lot of Assault Android Cactus would be right at home. We reviewed it back when it came out on PC, giving it a glowing recommendation, and our reviewer thought it a title well worth your time.

The other Xbox One only title coming lands between July 16 and August 15, with puzzling co-op title Death Squared. While not a standout title, Death Squared features a game that can be fun to play with friends as our reviewer noted on the game in her review. It doesn't feature a ton of variety in its 80 levels, but might be something to help you pass a scorching afternoon.

Leading off the Xbox 360 line up (and backward compatible as always) is Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown, a title featuring 17 fan favorites from Sega's Virtua Fighter series. One of the best fighting games on the market at the time, the title is largely felt to hold up to this day and if you enjoy fighting games it is one you'll probably enjoy checking out. It is available from July 1 to July 15.

The final title has Sam Fisher put in an appearance with Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction available between July 16 and 31 on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It's been 5 years since Sam Fisher last had a major title of his own in Splinter Cell: Blacklist making this a welcome sight for stealth fans on Xbox One while they await news on the long-rumored next entry in the series.

That brings us to a close of July's Games with Gold. Just a reminder that through July 15 Smite Gold is available to Gold Subscribers and until June 30th LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues is also possible to grab as part of June's Games with Gold.
