Save the whales! No, seriously, this is your chance to help save the whales. Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) is sponsoring a 24-hour live stream to raise funds to help save Orcas. The event is taking place on Tiltify, and there is a £5,000 fundraising goal, benefiting Gamers For Orcas 2019.
Streaming started on Friday, March 22, and will be continuing through Saturday, March 23 ending at 12pm EST. The following streamers are involved in the project – Creative Assembly, HunterDoggz, RadderssGaming, SmashGamingFrazzz, Wootibotx, RealKingRegis, DukeJason, TheMommyGamers, ThePinkChaos, TheGamingBeaver, Cringer, and PanzerPaw. Games being streamed include Jurassic World Evolution, Abzu, and Detroit Become Human.
Orcas, also known as killer whales, are a toothed whale found in every ocean in the world. Living in pods of about 30, orcas have earned the nickname “wolf of the sea” for their similar hunting habits to that of the land predator. Orcas and dolphins as a whole have garnered public concern in recent years with documentaries such as Blackfish and The Cove drawing attention to their mistreatment in captivity and hunting practices deemed unethical.
Quick TakeOcean conservation is a cause that is personally very dear to me, and I love that I am able to help promote it on TechRaptor. Even if you are reading this article after the live stream has ended, please consider heading over to the WDC website and making a donation to a great cause, or see what other ways you can help these beautiful animals.
Are you going to help save the whales? What other conservation streams would you like us to cover in future? What would you name an orca if you sponsored one? Let us know in the comments below! Save the whales!
