There have been a lot of crazy DLC offerings over the years ever since Bethesda began the practice with Oblivion's Horse Armor DLC. Few, however, can match Gal*Gun: Double Peace's level of insanity in content or price.

While there is more reasonably priced costume DLC, the headliner for the game's DLC set is the $90 Pheromone Z DLC. Costing either more than twice the price of the game (PS Vita) or 1.5x the price, this DLC lets you instantly see through the girl's clothes when using the sight zoom instead of the game's standard delay on that. The price was set to match the Japanese version price and was released in North America. However, it is not released in Europe due to an issue regarding the price.

We reached out to PQube games to clear up whether it was the price or the content that led Sony UK not to want it on the store. This is the response they gave us:

The issue is with the pricing basically. The pricing didn’t correspond to the perceived value of the DLC itself. Europe has a different set of rules to the US and Japan and we’re not actually allowed to just charge what we want for DLC. Technically, we could release it in Europe, but it would have to be a significantly cheaper price point.

As changing the prices for only one territory would be pretty unfair, and lowering the price across the board defeats the purpose of the DLC - which is a bit of fun and you’re not really supposed to want to buy it - we made the decision to just not release it in Europe.

So, this isn't a case of censorship, but rather regulations on ensuring value for prices and making sure things aren't insanely priced for consumer protection purposes. All the other DLC is available there, including costumes and a pair of DLCs to either increase or decrease the character breast sizes in-game.

This follows the recent decision by EB Games Australia to pull the game from stock, which is what prompted many to wonder why the DLC was not released in Europe. If you want to learn more about Gal*Gun: Double Peace, check out our full review!
