Galarian Ponyta was revealed on a recent Pokemon Sword and Shield live stream and additional details have been released about this new variant Pokemon in an upcoming issue of Famitsu. Among the new info is the reveal that the Galarian version will be getting a brand-new ability that can be used defensively and reactively to help out your allies.

A recent 24-hour Pokemon Sword and Shield live stream took place and we got to see quite a few 'mons peek their heads out from among the bushes of a fictional wildlife camera. The reveal was noted in a Reddit thread that was tracking the Pokemon that popped up during this marathon live stream.

Viewers got to see brief glimpses of this new variant Pokemon including a moment where it walked right in front of the camera, unfortunately being blurred due to the poor focus. This was later rectified when we got to see a pair of Galarian Ponyta jump out into the open.

New Galarian Ponyta Ability Revealed: 'Pastel Veil'

As Serebii reports, the next issue of Famitsu is going to be detailing Galarian Ponyta. There's still a lot we don't know about this creature, but two important pieces of information have nonetheless been revealed.

The first item of note is that this variant Ponyta will only be natively available on Pokemon Shield. If you happen to own Pokemon Sword, you're going to have a make a trade if you want to get one for yourself.

Secondly, this new style of Ponya is going to have a new ability. Simply called "Pastel Veil", it can protect itself and allies from poison as well as curing any allied 'mons of the poison status effect when they switch in.

You can see the Galarian Ponyta in motion in the official video released on the Pokemon YouTube channel this morning. Pokemon Sword and Shield arrive on the Nintendo Switch on November 15, 2019.
