The future of the Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Director's Commentary is "uncertain" according to a statement provided by Paradox Interactive.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is a highly-anticipated sequel to a game based on White Wolf's tabletop role-playing game. It's been in the works for a while now, but things have gone a bit sideways lately.

To start, the game was delayed to the first quarter of 2021 — that means that it's going to miss the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X later this year. Then, things got worse when Paradox Interactive announced that Lead Narrative Designer Brian Mitsoda and Creative Director Ka'ai Cluney were no longer part of the development team.

The game is in the final months of development, so such drastic changes in staffing aren't necessarily a big problem. These departures, however, have introduced a new problem: who's doing the Director's Commentary?

Who Will Do the Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Director's Commentary?

As with many big launches, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is offering multiple editions on launch. One of these perks on offer is an in-game developer commentary which is said to be featuring Lead Narrative Designer Brian Mitsoda — in fact, that is still highlighted on the game's Steam Store page. As we've already noted, Mitsoda no longer works with this studio.

Who will handle the Bloodlines 2 Director's Commentary, then? We've reached out to Paradox Interactive on the matter and received a reply. In short, they're not quite sure who will be handling this aspect of the game's bonus content.

At the moment, the person or persons who will be tackling the Director's Commentary is "still being ironed out by the team," according to our communications with Paradox. No specific person has been tapped for the job just yet.

That said, Alexandre Mandryka has joined the developers as a Creative Consultant, fulfilling the role of Creative Director for the last few months of development. There are surely many experienced people still on staff who are familiar enough with the game, so either Mandryka, another developer, or a group of developers could fill the role of the Bloodlines 2 Director's Commentary. It is, of course, entirely possible that part or all of Mitsoda's commentary has already been recorded and they'll just use that somehow, too.

The future of this one tiny part of the game isn't quite certain. We attempted to reach out to Brian Mitsoda for more information from his end, but were unable to reach him. For now, you can pre-order Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 via its website starting at $59.99 or your regional equivalent. You can also add Bloodlines 2 to your wishlist on Steam.
