Tiamat Games has announced the Maritime Calling release date, meaning we now know when you should check the docks for when this ship is leaving port.
Maritime Calling is a roguelite that takes inspiration from Subset Games' seminal Faster Than Light, as you manage the various roles of your crew as you sail together to unknown lands. Using procedural generation (like everything in this genre), you'll find new unknown territory each time as you travel to islands, shipwrecks, and more on the open seas.
Raising over 18k Euro in a Kickstarter earlier this year Maritime Calling requires you to balance managing your crew on the ship, sailing, a naval combat system where you target different parts of the enemy ships, a variety of stories, and island exploration. Island exploration even has its own special interface with an island map made up of different nodes, with choices and challenges drawing on your abilities, equipment, and crew.

“We are excited to invite would-be explorers to set sail on the open seas with Maritime Calling’s early access release this summer,” said Nikita Veselov, the Game Director on Maritime Calling. “We are excited to hear the stories from players and work closely with the community as we work towards the game’s full launch.”
When is the Maritime Calling release date?
You'll be able to play Maritime Calling in Early Access on September 28th, 2021. If you're not just content to wait for that date to roll around you can head to their Steam page to sign up for the Closed Beta. The Steam Playtest closed beta will be running from August 18th to 29th, and you simply have to sign up on their Steam page and join their Discord server for a chance to try the game out for free.
