Fire Emblem: Three Houses is most of a month away, but that hasn't stopped Nintendo from spilling the juicy details on the strategy RPG's upcoming DLC. The expansion pass is also available to pre-order right now, in addition to the game itself which releases on July 26, 2019.

DLC for Fire Emblem: Three Houses comes in four waves, and will include maps, costumes, and new playable characters. Purchasing the expansion pass also grants players an outfit for their player character, Byleth. The Officers Academy outfit looks appropriately commanding and teacher-like.

The expansion pass is expected to drop in four different waves between launch up until April 30th, 2020. It's possible that these may release two this year and two others next year. It is also confirmed that Fire Emblem: Three Houses will also include free updates after its launch.  Also, although details on the expansion pass are sparse, we can deduce what might be included based off of previous games' content.

Fire Emblem games for the 3DS included a large amount of maps with its DLC. Some of these packs offered advantages, granting large amounts of gold or weapons. These maps were highly farmable and allowed players to gain an edge if they were lacking in resources. Other maps, such as Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadow of Valentia's map pack called "Rise of the Deliverance," offered new story content and a new playable character exclusively playable on those maps.

Again, Fire Emblem: Three Houses launches later this month on July 26th, 2019 for the Nintendo Switch, along with an expansion pass including four waves of DLC in the future. Also be sure to stay tuned to TechRaptor for our review of Fire Emblem: Three Houses closer to release.

Quick Take

I don't think Fire Emblem's DLC has been stellar. The story maps provided in a few of the games are fine but nothing substantial. I yearn for an expansion, or even just more maps. It's promising to see that there will be more characters in these DLC packs, but I'm hoping that they can be used for the entire game rather than being segregated to the map packs they came with.
