Fortnite. Borderlands. Two of gaming's biggest brands star in the lastest crossover in the Fortnite with the Fortnite X Mayhem event.
“Inhabitants of Pandora have found their way to Fortnite, and they brought with them the planet’s characteristic mayhem,” reads the Epic Games post. “Starting today until September 10, shoot and loot your way through the Pandora Rift Zone, take on themed Challenges for free rewards, and pick up the Psycho Bundle from the shop.”
The most noticeable addition brought on by the event is the new Pandora Rift Zone. The zone isn’t just a typical map area, though; players who don’t take damage in the zone for long enough will generate shield similarly to Borderlands. The Epic Games blog post also mentions other surprises to be found in the zone.
New Pandora prefabs inspired by the Borderlands planet are available in creative mode along with a new camera filter. Players can post their creations to Instagram, Twitter, or Reddit using #FortniteXMayhem by September 6 for a chance to have it featured on The Block in Fortnite’s map.
The free Welcome to Pandora Challenge Bundle is available for all players now and features the Fortnite Borderlands crossover items. The bundle includes the Psycho Spray, Vault Hunter Banner, and other rewards.
The new Psycho Bundle is available for 2,000 V-Bucks. The bundle's Psycho Skin lets players dress up as the classic Borderlands psycho bandit. The bundle also includes a Claptrap Back Bling and the Psycho Buzz Axes pickaxe.
Players can also get the new Psycho Bundle if they preorder Borderlands 3 through their Epic Games account. This promotion will run all the way until December 2020. Any accounts which have already preordered the game will automatically receive the bundle.
The Fortnite X Mayhem event is live now and runs until September 10. Borderlands 3 is set to launch September 13, with its PC launch being a timed epic store exclusive.
