Become the animal
Comic book noir fans rejoice: cult classic graphic novel series Blacksad is getting a video game adaptation. Blacksad: Under the Skin is described by its creators as a "narrative-adventure video game". It's coming to PC and consoles on September 26th.
Set in the 1950s, Blacksad: Under the Skin sees players take control of the titular detective John Blacksad. Joe Dunn, the owner of a boxing club, is found dead. His daughter Sonia takes over the club and hires Blacksad to investigate the disappearance of up-and-coming boxing star Bobby Yale. Just like the comics, Blacksad and the people around him are anthropomorphic animals. The detective himself is a cat, while his sidekick Weekly is a weasel and police commissioner Smirnov is a German Shepherd dog. We're not sure which Blacksad regulars will be appearing in the video game yet. Look out for more news on this as we get it.

Developers Pendulo Studios and YS Interactive promise that Blacksad: Under the Skin will boast an "incredible 1950s feel". Players can look forward to a dark detective adventure just like the eponymous comic book series. Each choice and decision players make will influence Blacksad's relationships with those around him. The ending will also change depending on what choices players make throughout the game's narrative. We don't know too much about Blacksad: Under the Skin's gameplay, but given that this is a narrative game, don't expect too many high-octane shootouts.
Blacksad: Under the Skin will launch for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on September 26th this year. Alongside the digital versions, publisher Microids will also be releasing a physical collector's edition. This package will contain the game itself, a Blacksad resin statue, and a portfolio-style artbook.
