Lightning Rod Games has announced that their title, A Fold Apart, will be releasing for Apple Arcade (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV, and Mac), Nintendo Switch, and Steam on April 17. The game focuses on a teacher and an architect who vow to make their relationship work at any cost.
A Fold Apart is an interactive and narrative-driven puzzle that displays the ups and downs of a couple's long-distance relationship by showing the challenges and "wonder" of how people communicate with their loved one while living apart form one another. The gameplay has a unique mechanic, which is flipping and folding paper. The player has to do this in order to bring the couple closer together over the course of their everyday lives.
There are over 50 handcrafted paper folding puzzles with a 'homemade' paper aesthetic. Cool fact: the puzzles were originally plotted out on grid paper and stored in a binder. The player will be able to choose which couple to play as, and the player will also be able to unfold (heh) both sides of their story as they navigate their relationship. This can result in miscommunication and the "emotional rollercoaster that separation brings." Five bucks that there will be more fold puns then you shake a binder at, amirite?

What do you think of this announcement? What do you think of the fold mechanic? Are you ready for me to make on last fold pun? No? Well, I guess I fold, then.
