Heads were turned when FNAF World was announced, a cutesy turn-based RPG starring the cast of the hit horror title Five Nights at Freddy's as chibi robots. Now today, only several months since the game's first trailer hit, it's already out and available to the mass of Five Nights at Freddy's fanatics.
This is not a new trend for the franchise's developer Scott Cawthon. Every title past the original Five Nights at Freddy's has released way before Scott promised it would, Halloween update included, and now FNAF World has joined the gun jumping club with a release nearly a month before it was planned after its previous delay.
Funny enough, this isn't only breaking the announced release date, it's also earlier than the steam listing from yesterday promised. Keen-eyed Freddy's fans spotted the game on Steam's upcoming list with a release date of January 22nd, one that clearly hasn't been committed to.
Something worth pointing out about FNAF World is how much of a far cry from the original quadrilogy. There is no camera checking or jumpscare avoiding to be done in this title, rather you are able to play as forty playable characters, all of which are based on animatronics and other entities of interest in the Five Nights at Freddy's universe to combat colorful entities. The game's Steam page also suggests multiple endings available, as well as a bizarre section explaining some of the in-game abilities (Which really makes me nervous of the quality of the game's tool tips). Regardless, I suspect FNAF World will be a fine addition to the franchise, and I'm confident this will not be the last release date Cawthon breaks in his career.
This early release really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone anymore at this point, but if it gives me an excuse to dive into the world of Five Nights at Freddy's once more, you won't see me complaining.
