The first major Crusader Kings 3 expansion has been announced as part of PDXCON Remixed — get ready for Crusader Kings 3: Royal Court to introduce even more treachery in the throne room!

Crusader Kings 3: Royal Court will be the first major expansion for this game, adding an important new dynamic for players to navigate. Ruling a kingdom is tough enough on its own, nevermind when your own nobles and relatives are vying for power in the background or when you have to engage in a deadly duel. Soon, you'll be able to enjoy new challenges (and, perhaps more importantly, new opportunities) for shaping your kingdom to fit your vision.

What's New in the Crusader Kings 3 Expansion Royal Court?

The first major addition in the Crusader Kings 3 expansion is the Throne Room. This will let you get an idea of your dynasty's progress on one convenient screen. You'll also be able to "hold court" and interact with your vassals and other courtiers, handing down royal judgments for their problems.

It's not just about the politics, though — after all, what's the point of being a king or queen if you can't enjoy the good things in life? You can make the court a bit fancier with more lavish decorations and better food, impressing both your rivals and allies (and potentially attracting higher-quality guests). This can be supplemented with projects created by "Inspired People" — artists, sculptors, and craftsmen who can create works fit for a king.

This upcoming expansion won't just be a bunch of haughty nobles enjoying the good things in life — some changes to culture are also coming according to today's announcement. You'll be able to make "Hybrid Cultures" that better adjust to your kingdom's changing demographics, or you can split away from your country's culture entirely with the new "Cultural Divergence" mechanic.
