The first major Gran Turismo 7 update is out today, and it's bringing a wealth of new content with it. There are three new cars to drive, as well as a new layout for a beloved European track on which to try them out and two new featured Scapes.

What's in this latest Gran Turismo 7 update?

As Sony and Polyphony Digital teased back in March, the first thing you're getting in this first big Gran Turismo 7 update is three new cars. The Subaru BRZ GT300 '21 is the official 2021 Super GT Champion, and you'll now be able to drive it in Gran Turismo 7. Also being added are the rather snazzy-looking Subaru BRZ S '21 and the Suzuki Cappuccino EA11R edition, which dates back to 1991. As you can imagine, they're all lovingly rendered in Gran Turismo's characteristic hyper-realistic style.

As well as these cars, you're also getting a new layout for Spa-Francorchamps, a Belgian track beloved by many racing fans. The full track layout is already available in Gran Turismo 7, but now, you're getting the 24-hour layout as well, which changes the pit facility's location. Rounding out this first Gran Turismo 7 update are two new featured Scapes: "Gassho-style Houses in Ainokura" and "Cherry Blossoms at Night", which should give you lots of new ways to frame your favorite vehicles.

What is Gran Turismo 7?

Counterintuitively, Gran Turismo 7 is the eighth main installment in the Gran Turismo series of racing simulation games. Launching five years after the PS4's Gran Turismo SportGran Turismo 7 sees the return of a number of fan-favorite features, including Championships, the Driving School, and a number of traditional vehicles and tracks. At launch, Gran Turismo 7 was met with a negative reception by many fans, who cited excessive microtransactions and grinding as reasons for disliking the game. In response, Polyphony and Sony pledged to address these problems by improving rewards for events and adding new Missions for players to clear.
