Astragon, a German based video game company, has put a trailer out for their newest title, Firefighting Simulator, which can be viewed below.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvJxuSifL8s
Using Unreal Engine 4 - which has been used for a wide variety of games ranging from the cancelled Fable Legends to survival titles like Ark: Survival Evolved all the way to the upcoming Final Fantasy VII remake - Astragon promises to deliver a range of challenging missions, with equipment and firetrucks authentic to real world US firefighting departments. Firefighting Simulator will feature a single-player mode, as well as a multiplayer mode.
Astragon is well known for publishing multiple titles in the simulation game genre for the PC, such as Transocean 2: Rivals, Construction Simulator 2015, and Bus Simulator 16.
Surprisingly, the representation of firetrucks and firefighting in simulator games is very slim. Aside from Flash based app games, the most recent firefighting simulation title was Firefighters 2014, published by rondomedia (another German based company) on Steam in 2014.
I'm not going to lie, I'm really not a fan of simulator games in general. I think the genre has been exhausted and there aren't any new avenues to be explored, and the quality of titles tends to be much too inconsistent for me to enjoy the genre as a whole. That said, there isn't enough information available at this time on Firefighting Simulator for me to say one way or the other if will be a good game. When Firefighting Simulator comes out I'll give it a fair shake and review it like I would any other game. I'll leave it at this; if you like the simulation game genre, you'll probably enjoy Firefighting Simulator.
