Gunfire Games and publisher Arc Games have announced the release date for the final major piece of Remnant 2 DLC, The Dark Horizon, and it's coming alongside a major update that brings a new game mode and more.
Per an announcement on Steam, The Dark Horizon launches on September 24th, bringing with it new dungeons, a new character Archetype, and a traversal system you won't have encountered before in Remnant 2.
In the new DLC, you'll revisit the land of N'Erud in order to visit "a mysterious place preserved in time". You'll be battling a "colossal entity that watches over" N'Erud, meeting "unexpected allies" as you go. Sounds like the perfect way to cap off Remnant 2 to me.
Along with the new DLC, a brand new game mode will be added, and this one's free for all players. The Boss Rush mode lets you take on Remnant 2's bosses across three different difficulty levels, cutting out the levels in between.
Each difficulty adds more bosses: Triple Threat pits you against three, Trial by Fire sees you go up against seven, and the aptly-named The Gauntlet challenges you to face 19 bosses in a single run.
You can choose to take on this challenge either by yourself or with other players, and you'll gain temporary buffs and bonuses along the way, hopefully easing the pain of battling boss after boss with no break.
All you need to do if you want to access this mode is to head to Ward 13 and choose the Boss Rush option instead of Campaign or Adventure, so it's easy to get stuck in if you want to give the mode a shot.
It's not just the game mode and the DLC, either; the update is also bringing extra quality-of-life changes and improvements, as well as a new system called Prisms. You can use this feature to add extra stats to Remnant 2's rebalanced fragment system.
Remnant 2 is available right now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The Dark Horizon launches across all platforms on September 24th. You can check out our review of the base game here to find out if it's up your street.
