Final Fantasy XIV

With Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker quite literally around the corner, it makes sense that Square Enix is bragging a little bit. Why wouldn't they? Especially when Final Fantasy XIV has just hit the 25 million user mark, which is an amazing achievement for any game, let alone in a genre that has historically been dominated by World of Warcraft.

Ever since this summer, Final Fantasy XIV has been growing at an incredible rate, with the MMORPG reaching 24 million players back in October, which means 500,000 players a month have been making accounts for the first time. Wow.

For the curious, this total is for all five official regions that the game is based in: North America, Europe, Japan, China, and South Korea. This figure comes from the pre-launch stream for Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, which is releasing... tomorrow, sort of.

What do I mean by this? Well, the early access for Endwalker releases tomorrow, with the expansion releasing officially on December 7, 2021. This means that there are some recently released patch notes for us to peruse, so let's get to it.

What's in Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.0?

Players can expect to find two new cities in the expansion: Old Sharlayan and Radz-at-Han. There are also new field areas such as Labyrinthos, Thavnair, Garlemald, Mare Lamentorum, and more, but they've been omitted to prevent spoilers, which is a nice thing to do.

New city and field aetherytes have also been added to the game, as well as new quests. That's obvious, but hey, you have to say it, right? These quests range from new main scenario quests to side story quests and some role quests. These are physical DPS role quests that have been divided into two categories: melee DPS and ranged DPS.

Other cool things include Stadium Deliveries having been added along with new trademark and fieldcraft leves, new FATEs, and a new housing district, Empyreum, which has been added to Ishgard.

There's a whole lot more that's been added to the game, so if you'd like to check out the patch notes be sure to go here. For more information on all things Final Fantasy XIV, stay tuned to TechRaptor.
