Square Enix has revealed the Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.1 release date, and the first post-Dawntrail chapter of the game's story arrives in just under two weeks. We'll be discussing Dawntrail spoilers in this article, so be aware of that if you still haven't caught up with the story.
Launching on November 12th, Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.1 represents the continuation of the soft reboot that the Dawntrail expansion represents after the climactic events of previous expansion Endwalker.
Judging by the trailer, the story for Patch 7.1 will revolve around the aftermath of Dawntrail, including (here be spoilers!) the death of Alexandria's Queen Sphene and the effect that death has on the inhabitants of her world, as well as on Zoraal Ja's son Gulool Ja.
As well as a look at the story content, the new Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.1 trailer also offers glimpses of the new dungeon, Yuweyawata Field Station, which will take you into some pretty sinister-looking science lab-style environments.
The trailer also offers a preview of the new Echoes of Vana'diel raid, which will serve as Dawntrail's endgame 24-player raid and which will also serve as a collaboration with fellow long-running MMO Final Fantasy XI.
Everyone's favorite bumbler Hildibrand also makes an appearance in the latest trailer; he'll be appearing as part of the "Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures" quest line, which you'll be able to tackle if you've been keeping up with your Hildibrand content.
Elsewhere in the patch, you're getting a new Unreal trial in The Jade Stoa, as well as a new Ultimate raid, which will bump up the difficulty of Dawntrail's final encounter.
Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.1 arrives on November 12th, and you'll need to have gone through the Dawntrail expansion to play it. If you want to know what we thought of said expansion, you can read our review here.
