There's good news for Final Fantasy VII Remake PS Plus players today. If you've played the PS Plus version of the game and you own a PS5, you'll be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free. That upgrade won't include the Intergrade DLC, though, unfortunately.
How do you upgrade your Final Fantasy VII Remake PS Plus copy?
After Final Fantasy VII Remake headed up the March PS Plus lineup, many assumed they would be entitled to a PS5 upgrade if they downloaded this version. That proved not to be the case, but now, the official FFVII Twitter account has revealed that an upgrade is coming. Starting from Wednesday, you will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake free of charge if you have the PS Plus version.

There are a couple of caveats, of course. You'll need an active PS Plus subscription if you want to play Final Fantasy VII Remake, assuming you haven't purchased the game in the interim. Even if you have the game installed on your PS5's SSD, you won't be able to play it unless you have a subscription. In addition, the Intergrade DLC, which adds extra content starring materia hunter Yuffie, isn't included in the PS5 upgrade. You'll have to buy Episode Intermission separately if you want to experience that content. Square Enix has confirmed that it'll be available at 25% off "for a limited time", though, so now's the chance to snap it up if you want it.
What does the future look like for Final Fantasy VII Remake?
It's all go for Final Fantasy VII Remake right now. After an Epic Games Store PC version of the game was leaked earlier this year, it was officially released on that platform just a few days ago. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on PC packs in everything from the PS5 version, although fans have complained that its graphical options are somewhat limited (thanks, PC Gamer). Still, it's nice to have the game available on PC, especially if you haven't been able to snag yourself a PS5 just yet.

Unfortunately, there's still no word on when we can expect Part 2 of Final Fantasy VII Remake, which will presumably pick up after the group leaves Midgar. We do know that Square Enix has said future instalments won't drastically change the narrative, even after certain changes to Final Fantasy VII's story in the remake proved controversial among players. We'll bring you more on this as soon as we get it. In the meantime, you can grab Final Fantasy VII Remake either via the PlayStation Store or via the Epic Games Store.
