If you were hoping to get Final Fantasy VII Remake on the PC or Xbox, it sounds like you'll be waiting even longer. The box art for the game has been updated to reveal that Final Fantasy VII Remake will be a one year timed exclusive to PlayStation 4.
Posted on Twitter by Wario64, the box art has received one very major change since it was first shown off. This change is the addition of a little sticker in the corner that says "PlayStation Exclusive. Play First on Ps4. Timed exclusive until 3/3/21." This news may not particularly come as much of a surprise to some people, it always seemed like Final Fantasy VII Remake was going to be, at the very least, a timed exclusive. Now that it's both confirmed, and that we have a date for how long it will be, it's something that can at least be planned around. You can see the box from Square Enix yourself below.
If you've somehow lived under a rock, Final Fantasy VII Remake is a remake of one of the most popular jRPGs of all time. The remake will cover the entire Midgar section of the game, reworking it into a full game and providing far more extra content. In turn, Square Enix is working on further chapters of Final Fantasy VII to be turned into remakes of their own. We got a chance to play it at E3 and found it to be one of the best experiences at the show, even awarding it with one of our game of the show awards.
Final Fantasy VII Remake will be launching on PlayStation 4 on March 3rd, 2020, with any other versions following at least a year later.
